Ghana has accepted to host a sixteen-team competition organised by the West African Football Union (Wafu).
This comes on the back of a four-club competition organised by the sub-regional body in Senegal early in April.
Wafu officers are already in Accra for an inspection tour of facilities after which venues for the competition will be announced.
“The Wafu Organising Committee (WOC) will be on a three-day working visit in Ghana from Wednesday April 19, 2017 for an Inspection tour of the facilities to be used for the WAFU Invitation Trophy to be played from June 17 – July 2, 2017,” a statement read.
“All sixteen (16) nations of West Zones A and B have been invited to participate. As usual, Wafu / Fox will pay air travel and accommodation (full board and lodge} for all delegations.
“The Committee will inspect the hotels, stadiums and training facilities in Accra as well as hold meetings with the Ghana Football Association to set up the Local Organising Committee (LOC).
Ghana FA’s vice-president George Afriyie is expected to chair the LOC.
Returning Ghana national team coach Kwesi Appiah will be in charge of the home-based Black Stars for the 16-nation Wafu tournament.
