Appiah targets making Ghana great again

Returning Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah has called for support as he aims to make the Black Stars great again.

After parting ways with Sundanese club Al-Khartoum a couple of weeks ago, Appiah, 57, touched down in Accra on Friday to finalise his proposed two-year deal with the Ghana Football Association.

In a brief interaction, the former international said: “I will do the best that I can but I can never do it without your help. I will need the support and prayers of every Ghanaian to make our Black Stars big again.

“It is always great to be back home; this is my motherland. Every Ghanaian would love to be at home and make sure he does what he can to help his nation.”

Asked if he anticipated a comeback this early after leaving the job in 2014, Appiah responded: “I always had this belief that you can never say never when it comes to coaching. You always make your mind open and when the opportunity comes, you take it.” gathers Appiah intends to hold a meeting with Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan in the coming days after talks with his deputy and West Ham forward Andre Ayew in London last week.

Kwasi Appiah is scheduled to be unveiled as Black Stars coach for the second time on Wednesday, April 26.
