Super Falcons head coach, Thomas Denabi was disappointed with his side lost to South Africa as he feels his side deserved a better results.

The coach whose side is considered as one of the tournament favorite lost the match through chrestina kgatlana goal in the second half after failing to utilize the few chances that came their way.

“I am very disappointed we lost the game.”

Congratulations to South Africa. Has been a fair game, a drawn game would have been fair.

Bayana Bayana were very compact and exhibited their counter attacking style to perfection especially after the introduction of chrestina in the 56th minute of the game.

“South Africa are really good in counter attacks. We analyzed and knew what was coming.”

The best chance of the first half went to Nigeria after Ugochi was put through a goal by Asisat Oshoala but the striker put the ball away. Thomas felt they should have scored a goal.

“I think we should have scored a goal in the first half.”

Nigerian now have to beat Zambia to have any chance of qualifying to the next stage of the Total African Women Cup of Nations as well as 2019 world cup.

The other match of the group between Zambia and Equatorial Guinea kicks off at 16:30.
