Bayana Bayana striker chrestinah kgatlana scored the winner as South Africa defied odds and beat the tournament favorite super falcons of Nigeria at the Cape coast stadium in the ongoing Total African Women Cup of Nations.
The Houston Dash striker came on in the 56th minute after replacing Busiswe Innocencia Ndimeni.
“This means a lot to me and specifically for the team because we know how important it is to have won this game.
We knew it was going to be a difficult game against Nigeria but for once am very proud of my team that we didn’t fear Nigeria and we didn’t give them too much credit as we step up our game.”
Chrestinah was chosen as the woman of the match.
“I feel great to win the award (Woman of the match) and on behalf of the team, and on behalf of South Africa, I will like to thank them for their support.
Going forward, we looking to be playing together as a team and we came here for one goal which is to qualify for the world cup and we gona (going) take each and every game step by step.”
South Africa will be hoping to get the needed three points as they look forward to enhance their chances of qualification to the next stage of the competition when they play their next game against Equatorial Guinea on 21st November, 2018 at Cape Coast Stadium.
