The head coach of Algerian Women’s National Team, Radia Fertoul has congratulated Ghana Black queens after they lost to them in the opening match of the ongoing African Women’s Nations Cup in Accra.
Coach Fertoul who took over the team in September, after the resignation of Azzedine Chih, told reporters about her reaction after the match.
“We congratulate all the players for a good game today. She was speaking through a translator.
We had a very nice game but it wasn’t easy especially the goal.
We congratulate Ghana for a good game.”
Algeria will play Cameroon in their next group A match and Fertoul is aware of the challenge ahead and also stated that they missed their striker Naima Bouhenni.
“Our next game is against Cameroon and we are going to try to improve our game.
We have a player who is deeply wounded and couldn’t play but we have a very good group and we will improve.”
Defending champions Nigeria will play in Group B alongside South Africa, Zambia and Kenya at the Cape Coast stadium.
The tournament in Ghana also serve as qualifier for the Women’s World Cup with the top three African teams securing a place in France 2019.
