Liverpool have agreed a deal to bring Fabio Carvalho to Anfield in the summer for £5 million plus add-ons.
The Merseyside club pushed to bring the attacking midfielder in during the January transfer window. A deal appeared to be close on deadline day, only for the 19-year-old to stay in west London after time ran out for a move to be completed.
Carvalho’s contract with Fulham expires in the summer. While he could move for free to teams overseas, clubs in England will have to pay a tribunal fee or agree a transfer with Fulham — which Liverpool have now done.
Carvalho has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool and completed a medical. The agreement means he will join Liverpool on July 1 for an initial fee of £5 million. Liverpool have agreed to a 20 per cent sell-on fee and a further £2.7 million in add-ons.
The two clubs have stayed in contact since January, when the deal fell through due to time constraints.
He is expected to sign a contract until the summer of 2027. Carvalho will see out the season with Fulham, who are pushing for promotion to the Premier League, before joining up with Liverpool in the summer. He’s expected to be part of their pre-season tour to the far east ahead of next summer.
